Living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS Digestinol

Since the cause of irritable bowel syndrome is not known, there is not yet a cure.  While it does cause a great deal of pain, discomfort, and distress – it does not cause  any permanent harm to the intestines and does not lead to intestinal bleeding of the bowel or to a more serious condition, such as cancer.  It is classified by doctors as a “functional disorder”, since there is no sign of the disease when the colon is examined.

It is often described as a mild annoyance for some, but for others it can be disabling.  Many people that suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) fear the thought of going to social events, traveling, or anywhere they aren’t familiar with since the urge to use a restroom can come very quickly.

The major function of the colon is to absorb water and salts from items that enter the small intestine.  This material may stay in the colon for a few days until most of the fluids and salts are absorbed into the body.  The stool then passes through the colon by a serious of movements along the left side of the colon, where it is stored until a bowel movement takes place.

The movement of the material through the colon is controlled by muscular movements of intestinal muscles, which is controlled by nerves and electrical activity in the colon muscle.  These movements propel the contents slowly back and forth, but mostly mostly towards the rectum.  This happens a few times a day, which ultimately result in a bowel movement.

Researchers have found that the colon muscle of people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) begin to spasm prematurely and more frequently than it should.  The colon in people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), seem to be much more sensitive to foods and material in the colon, and cause spasms from small items that would not affect most people without IBS.

Different things can trigger Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for different people:

·Simply eating or introducing other material into the colon can cause an overreaction in a person dealing with IBS

·Certain medications and food types may trigger spasms

·Chocolate milk or large amounts of alcohol

·Caffeine

·It has also been found that women with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can experience more symptoms during their menstrual cycles, which suggests that reproductive hormones can increase IBS symptoms.

My story really begins with my mother who at 80 years old was diagnosed w/ Ulcerative Colitis. She suffered horribly from the disease & the side effects of the prescription medicine. My sister discovered Digestinol and we credit that with her improvement. She became symptom-free & took Digestinol daily until she died at age 93.

I manage my condition (IBS) pretty well w/ careful diet but had a bout this past year (diarrhea for 6 months) until I followed the Digestinol protocol (9 capsules per day, and for 30 days after symptoms disappear. Now I’m taking the regular 3 capsules per day and feeling better than ever!!
