Living with Diverticular Disease – Diverticulitis and Diverticulosis

Diverticular Disease consists of a combination of conditions that affect your large intestine (aka colon). What happens is that small pouches or sacs (called diverticula) form on the intestinal wall and cause various symptoms.  Diverticular disease is associated with Diverticulitis and Diverticulosis – painful and uncomfortable digestive disorders that can cause a lot of grief for those who suffer from them.

The three main stages are:

Diverticulosis – This is the foundation for the disease. However, most people develop this condition as they age. The older you get the higher chance you have of developing Diverticulosis. But most people don’t even know they have this stage because their condition doesn’t get any worse, meaning the sacs don’t get inflamed/infected.

Diverticulitis – This stage is when the sacs/pouches become infected and/or inflamed. When this happens it causes pain, often severe enough to cause someone to stay in the hospital for a few days.

Diverticular bleeding – This is not as common as Diverticulitis, but it is more serious. The bleeding can occur if a blood vessel next to the pouch bursts.

-Symptoms-

Diverticulosis, normally doesn’t come with many symptoms. Some signs of Diverticulosis are mild cramps, bloating and/or constipation. Although, these are common symptoms that could be the cause of something else, so it can be tricky to isolate your condition just from these symptoms.

Diverticulitis, normally is associated with severe abdominal pain, which is normally felt in your lower left abdominal area. In most cases, it can gradually increase in intensity, increasing over the period of several days, and it often comes on suddenly. You could also experience nausea, fever, and constipation or diarrhea.

Diverticular bleeding, the most common (and shocking) sign is a large amount of blood in your stool. If you notice this or even blood coming from your rectum you should contact your doctor immediately.

The exact cause of DiverticulosisDiverticulitis, and/or Diverticular Bleeding hasn’t been determined yet, however, many professionals feel it can be caused by a lack of fiber in a persons diet. That would cause cases of constipation over the years and result in unnecessary pressure in the bowel walls and this is believed to be the initial cause the of the pouches to form. The build of pressure weakens the bowel walls and as a result allows the pouches to start forming

There are other factors which are believed to also contribute to the formation of these pouches such as:

-Lack of exercise

-Obesity

-Genetics

-A lack of healthy bacteria in the gut (yes, there is good bacteria)

-An increase of bad bacteria in your gut

-Smoking

-And some medications – like an abundance of steroidal and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like ibuprofen.

As mentioned above, many people develop the less severe condition (Diverticulosis). In fact, your chances of developing it increase as you age. most people develop it between the age of 40 and 80 years old.

If you have Diverticulitis, you will most likely deal with random “flare-ups” from time to time. To help minimize these it is suggested that you eat a high fiber diet, drink lots of water, and exercise regularly. In some cases, harsh items like buts and seeds may cause additional irritation in the digestive tract and it is suggested they be avoided. Although, some people tend to be able to handle them more than others.

If you experience any of the above conditions/symptoms, you could also consider Digestinol.

If you are not interested in prescription medications to treat your condition and prefer a more natural approach, Digestinol makes all natural capsules that contain a very specific form of Aloe Polysaccharides to target the inflammation along your digestive tract.

Ulcerative Colitis - Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - Digestinol

These capsules also provide your body with the nutrients that it is lacking in order to take back control of itself. Digestinol isn’t just Aloe Vera powder, Aloe Vera (contains Aloin) which irritates your digestive system and can cause diarrhea. Digestinol undertakes very specific additional steps in order to remove the Aloin during their extraction process to focus on only the beneficial portions of the Aloe Leaf, the long chain Aloe Mucilaginous Polysaccharide molecules.

Since Digestinol is 100% all-natural it doesn’t bring along the side effects that other chemically based prescription medications have. We tell our customers to think of Digestinol as an all-natural digestive system specific vitamin that reduces inflammation and provides your body with specific nutrients that allow it to take back control of itself. Our Digestinol capsules will also help to balance the good and bad bacteria levels in your body allowing it to regain control of its normal operations.
